In this video we introduce your Kenmore Central Vacuum Power Unit. Though they are built into your house, they are very easy to understand. The unit consists of three main compartments: the motor compartment, filtration, and debris collection. You'll see how to clean out the unit, and see what's inside the three compartments. The complete unit is also easily replaceable.

In this video, we go over your first electric hose replacement option for your Kenmore Central Vacuum System. Your old hose may be in need of a replacement, but your Power-Mate may still be working. Our Electric Hose (Option 1) is the latest and greatest hose technology for your older brush nozzle. The hose is lightweight and pliable; a dream to use. Requires two adaptors to fit it into the nozzle. The first adaptor is a new top wand (#406SU), which replaces your current top wand. The second adapter is a 6-inch cord to mate the nozzle's cord to the new hose and wand (#480AC). When your power nozzle stops working you can buy a newer style nozzle which mates with the new hose. If you have proprietary Kenmore inlet valves then you will need a metal stub tube hose adapter (#302-1.25ST) to allow the new hose to fit in your valves. We also sell the electric hose (Option 1) with this wall end adapter included. If you have standard inlet valves, then the hose will fit directly into your valves.

Our Electric Hose Option 2 (Kenmore style direct connect will a 6ft pigtail to plug into an electrical outlet near your inlet valves) will replace your old hose directly. To use your new hose, just plug it straight into your inlet valve and vacuum nozzle like you are now. You are up and running again with a brand new hose, and when your power nozzle stops working you can buy a new PowerMate replacement nozzle (renamed Hayden). In this video we cover non-electric hose replacement options for your Kenmore Central Vacuum System. If you don't have an electrical PowerMate nozzle, then these hoses are great replacements. In fact, even if you have other hoses you can have any combination of hoses for your system! We have three choices:

In this video, we cover attachment kit upgrades for your Kenmore Built-in Vacuum System. It doesn't matter what model number, serial number, hose, power brush, or inlet valve you currently have, MD can supply a brand new attachment kit. The hoses are crushproof, lightweight, and offer 27% more suction. There are several types of kits. The electric attachment kits are best if you have carpet and/or pet hair. They dig down deep in your carpet to make it super clean. The electric kits are also the quietest available on the market today. (
Electric Kits for Kenmore) The air driven kits are excellent for minimal carpet. They are louder than electric kits, and slightly less efficient (in our opinion). (
TurboCat, TurboCat Zoom). Another type of kit we have is a
Quick Clean Kit. This kit comes with a stretch hose that is 6ft long when relaxed, but stretches to as long as 28ft.
Hose Socks are also available. This handy accessory item goes over any hose (except the Stretch Hose) and protects your baseboards and furniture legs. It is important to determine which type of inlet valves you have before purchasing a new kit. You may either have proprietary valves or industry standard valves. If you have proprietary inlet valves, then you will need to purchase the
metal stub tube; however, if you have standard industry inlet valves, then the new kit will fit directly into your inlets.

In this video, we go over storage tips and storage products for your Kenmore Central Vacuum. Do not leave the hose plugged into the wands of your power brush. Over time, it creates a stress fracture on the hose at the hose handle. We do have some solutions for this. After use, put the hose into 4 or 5 loops on the floor and then place it up onto a wall hose hanger (repeat this after each usage). MD has three different types of hose hangers: a
nylon plastic hose hanger, a
hose tote that hangs on a hook, and a
wire hose hanger. Our
tool caddy can be used for storing your accessories. We also have a
wand wall clamp. The clamp screws onto the wall and hangs your wands and even your power nozzle. A real space saver! This gets the power brush and/or accessories up off the floor and onto the wall, and only needs a few inches of wall space depth.

In this video, we cover the different types of inlet valves found in your Kenmore Central Vacuum System, and how they work. The two main types of inlet valves are the Proprietary Inlet Valves, and the more Industry Standard Basic Valves. Though the proprietary inlet valves are not sold anymore, we do have replacement inlets available (though it involves a lot of work to replace - see the next video). However, if you have any of the standard inlet valves, you can replace them with any of our basic inlet valves.

(Note: the #517 backing plate that attaches to the new tight 90 elbow needs to have its side flange cut off so it fits into the wall. The top and bottom of the #517 sandwich the wall as the new inlet faceplate is screwed down.)
In this video, we are going to cover your options for replacing your Kenmore Inlet Valves. If you have industry standard inlets, then you can replace them with any of our Basic Valves. However, if you have Kenmore proprietary valves, it is a big project to try and replace them. We will show you how to replace the proprietary inlets and list what parts are needed. Use regular PVC cement/glue for the connections but the faceplate is only screwed on.

In this video, we cover replacing your old fused prong plug with a newer adaptor cord. It is a very simple task, and only takes minutes to accomplish. Begin by removing the old fused prong plug. Next, place male side of the new cord onto the female connectors at the hose. Finally, plug hose into inlet valve then plug the new cord into a nearby electrical outlet and you are finished. You now have a working hose once again.
12. Troubleshooting the Electronics in a Kenmore Central Vacuum
In this video, we cover troubleshooting the electronics in your Kenmore Central Vacuum Unit. If your unit isn't working, you can replace the electronics to help repair your vacuum unit.
