Electric Vacuum Hose Q&A

Electric Vacuum Hose
4-Switch Hose
Question:
We need to replace an old 32ft 4-wire vacuum hose on a Vacu Maid system (P-100). The hose has a gas pump style handle design with 2 switches. 1 switch for the P-100 and the second switch for the carpet brush. The other end of the hose is a direct connect for 125v AC and low voltage, metal pins for the AC and a split ring to pickup the low voltage. The hose end that plugs into the wall has a 1-7/16 outside dia. and a 1-3/16 inside dia. I did not find in the description of your hoses a reference to 4-wire or the number of switches on a handle. Can you tell me if any of your hoses might match the hose i tried to describe. Thanks Les. Tacoma WA.
Answer:
Hello, our Electric Hoses are 4-wire and fit right into your inlet. There are no more hoses with two switches. Take a look at the detailed photo of what they look like now to get a feel for if you can may yours work. Ask us more questions as needed. http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/electrichoses.html

Beam Hose Doesn't Fit in Nutone Outlets
Question:
We have Nutone wall outlets installed in 2000. Our main system is Kenmore. We just bought a used second hose (Beam brand) for the basement but the metal connector is too large to fit all the way completely into the wall outlet? The hose power connects on but if we pull too hard the hose will come out. Is there an adaptor part required to downsize from male to female? Thanks!
Answer:
Actually, we suggest shaving a bit of plastic off the hose end so it goes in farther.

Broan CV40 Electric Hose?
Question:
I have the old broan cv40c and my hose is the cv331 in the brochure - electrical cords on both ends. I need a new hose (with electrical cords at each end) Can you help me? Thank you!
Answer:
The first step in determining which hose you need depends on your inlet valves. Does the opening of your valve have an ID (inner diameter) of 1.5"? If so, you can find the hose you need by clicking here http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/electrichoses.html just choose the length of hose you prefer and remember to get the one with a cord. If you have inlet valves that measure anything other than 1.5", please contact our offices at 1-800-997-2278 (M-TH 7-5 PST) and one of our helpful representative will be more than happy to assist you.

Conductaflex 208 with Extension Replacement?
Question:
Need replacement hose for Conductaflex 208 LR 44129 120V 3.5A 60hz to CEN - TEC Model CT14DX. See photo.
Answer:
Hi, we suggest a new upper wand and lower wand. Use the all metal "lower" wand here as the new upper wand. Now you don't have to have the button lock extension, which is not available as far as we know. Then buy the 30 or 35ft corded hose also here: http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=406HSP,406SL,352GC,353GC. The hose we suggest is pliable and lighter weight. Our customers love it though you will be shocked at its difference at first. It is truly an upgrade and kinder to your baseboards and furniture.

We also have all the parts and replacements for your CT14DX here: http://builtinvacuum.com/parts/hayden-parts.html.

Also, you can replace the hose and nozzle with any of our complete electric attachment kits here: www.builtinvacuum.com/electricpowered.html. Newer nozzles do not break belts like your nozzle tends to do. Newer ones shut off automatically before the belt breaks. Makes for carefree vacuuming!

Conductaflex Electric Hose Replacement
Question:
Hello: I have a Easy Flo EF1550 built in vacuum. I am looking to replace the hose. The information on the hose is as follows. Conductaflex 208, LR 44129 120V, 3.5 A, 60 HZ. Can you please quote me the price to replace the hose? Thank You Holly Whitecourt, Alberta. Canada
Answer:
Hello Holly, we have a wonderful electric hose but the handle to electric cord connection is often a little different. Please use the measurement photo here to determine if you can use our hose, which is in most of the central vacuum systems. http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/electrichoses.html. The price is in the drop down menu and for Canada you can see the complete price in checkout.

Convert or Swap 2-Way Switch Electric Hose?
Question:
I have a PLASTFLEX instant on/automatic hose with a 2 way switch handle. I would like to turn the vacuum off/on at the handle instead of always having to remove the hose from the wall. Is this possible? Change the hose end or switch out? Thanks for your help. Andrea
Answer:
Hello Andrea, this is really simple, all you need is one of our Electric Hoses (also made by Plastiflex) and you will able to operate the suction and power brush with the three way switch. The only reason this will not work is if you have the 1% of non-standard inlet facepletes. If your suction hole is about 1-1/2" diameter and you see two tiny little metal contacts right inside the hole (can be on top or bottom) then you have standard inlets and you are set.

Cyclovac
Question:
Hello. I have 2 houses with cyclovacs and super valves. The first is a rental with carpet and hardwood floors. The 2nd is my home, with all hardwood. For both houses, I have only one cyclovac 30' hose and wand - it is electric. 1. Is the smart money to save up front $$ and buy a quality low voltage hose for my home with all hardwood, or pay up and get a 2nd electric hose? 2. Is the low voltage hose lighter and suppler than your electric version? (easier to haul around) 3. Could you recommend ratcheting extension wands of equal quality to the cyclovac for both your electric and low voltage hose? - My wife doesn't want to give up her cyclovac electric wand unless a new low voltage wand is equally nice. Thanks, Bill - Forest Ranch, Ca.
Answer:
Bill sounds like all you need is the Low Voltage hose and good rachet wands. We do have really good chrome ratchet wands. You can get the button lock version or friction fit. Here are both style wands http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=406T,406TB. Also, if buying the Electric Hose, be sure to go over the detailed photo in the electric hose page, the one with the measurements to be sure of compatibility.

EasyFlo Compatible?
Question:
Will this hose fit my Easy Flo model EF1425, I hate to have to return it. Thanks K. Byrne, Orlando
Answer:
Hello, this hose will fit into your wall ports. We have detailed the fit and dimensions of the hose handle end extensively on this page so you can make the final decision. In this industry there are several hose manufacturers and no matter what brand central vacuum you have any of the hose kits can be used because of the universal wall port. So yes, this could be the relacement hose you need since it is from the major USA hose manufacturer called Plastiflex (which in not found molded into the hose and they used to make versions of the same hose). Please see the dimensions on this page http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/electrichoses.html

Electric Burn at Hose Handle End
Question:
I bought a new house with a Hoover central unit with a piggy back style cord connection to wall. A couple of months after moving in, I was vacuuming and I kept loosing power to the beater but it would come back on and I had no loss of suction. A few moments later, I glanced down near my hand (holding the gas pump style handle) and it sparked and black smoke followed. I let it cool off and noticed the plastic is melted around the connection. Since then, I've only been using the non-electric parts to clean hard surfaces. The electric carpet attachment is new (previous owner had just gotten it). Can I just replace the handle or do I need a new hose and electric carpet attachment? Thanks
Answer:
Yes, the connection is shorted. This is usually do to not turning off the switch before connecting and disconnecting. You can replace the wiring harness and hose handle if needed. Call us so you get the right one.

Electric Hose Extension?
Question:
I currently have a 30ft pig-tail corded hose (Beam) but need a little length for one room. I don't really want to carry around a lot of extra hose when not needed in most rooms. Do you have an extension that would work with a powerhead? If not could you tell me if I add an extension plug the pigtail into the wall with an extension cord would I still be able to get electricity to the power head?
Answer:
Sorry, there is not anything like that on the market for existing hoses. There is however a new hose called Quick Click that has a 20ft base and 15 and 10-foot extensions that all go together. It will not fit your Beam attachments though unless you use some adaptors. Quick Click hose: http://builtinvacuum.com/quick-click/index.html
Adaptors: http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=352GBA,406SU,480AC (you need just the first one or both of the next ones).

Fasco Electric Hose?
Question:
Harry, Pittsburgh. I have the Master Vac by Fasco and need Model Number 852SVDM's Current Carrying Hose. How do I order a new one?
Answer:
Hi Harry, Fasco usually used a hose that is now obsolete which requires you to buy a complete new electric kit. The new kits fit right into your system as is. All new hoses have two holes, small and round, in the hose handle underside. That is typically not what Fasco had. You can read more about that here briefly in the electric hose section http://builtinvacuum.com/help/fasco/hoses.html.

Filter Queen Hose?
Question:
I presently have a Filter Queen Central Vacuum system. I need a replacement electric hose. I have all of the attachments. Will your electric hose work with my present system?
Answer:
Hello, the electric hose replacement requires some measurements. It will fit your wall ports but lets make sure it fits the wands on the handle end. A central vacuum can use a variety of hoses and tool sets, even from different manufacturers. See the measurements on this page a compare yours. Let us know if you have more questions http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/electrichoses.html

Fix Short in Hose, or Replace?
Question:
I have a Nutone CV750 central vac and lately when I plug in the hose into the wall connection it cuts out (power to vac starts and stops). A dealer indicated that it is probably wiring in the hose. I noticed that the hose cuts out at all my plug-in ports so I don't think it is the plug in ports. Will a new hose correct this. I don't want to buy a new hose and then find out the problem is elsewhere. Thank you.
Answer:
You may be able to fix the hose (however a new one will fix it and be a very good upgrade in suction power). Hold the handle still and flex the hose as it goes into the handle. Twist it, spin it, try to find the short. If it is there you may be able to fix it. Unplug the hose and take the handle apart. You will see metal touching metal rings. The tension on the metal fingers can be made better by bending them. Spin the metal rings. If they spin too freely they may have lost contact to the metal contact under them. You can lift the contact points up by bending them with a tiny screw driver. Hope that helps. If not, we have the hose you need.

Fuse in Hose?
Question:
I have a Zenex central vac system that turns on at the unit, but the hose itself does not turn on. Is there a fuse that can be changed?
Answer:
Hello, it could be the handle switch is bad or the electrical wall end connection has blown its molded in, hidden, fuse. The plug will need to be replaced. What brand of hose or vacuum head do you have?

GE 600 Central Vacuum
Question:
Hi I have an old GE 600 central vacuum system( model: BGVS600A9A serial: 851497-911).The canister seems to work great. I have never seen the original hose but by looking at the wall plug it looks looks like a direct plug in hose type . Can I find a replacement hose here? Thank you , Elio.
Answer:
Hello, if here are two holes 3/8" apart in the wall valve then you need an Electric Hose with Direct Connection. If not then simply buy the corded version. We suggest buying an entire kit though, that way you start fresh and everything fits together perfectly. Also, if you don't already have an electric brush, and you are simply wanting a hose, you don't need the Electric Hose. A Low Voltage hose will work with your system and save you money. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hayden Hose and Nozzle Upgrade and Replace
Question:
We have a seven year old Hayden 6000 and a Hayden Superpack Deluxe electric powerhead with a 30ft hose. My wife is very petite and the powerhead and hose is heavy for her to carry upstairs. The powerhead needs a new base assembly and a new brush/beater bar assembly, and the hose is a few feet shorter than what would be ideal for us. One option we are considering is to replace the Hayden Superpack Deluxe kit with a new Stealth kit. How is the weight of the Stealth electric powerhead and 35 ft hose assembly compared to our vintage Hayden Superpack Deluxe with the 30 ft hose?
Answer:
Hi, we recommend the 12" wide Stealth nozzle kit for your home. The nozzle and hose are a couple pounds lighter and that makes a difference when dealing with vacuums. She will love the durability of the Stealth as well. Remember you do have 30 days to try it out. Here are the kits we suggest http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=423NY30,423NYC30,423NY35,423NYC35.

Hayden: Wire vs Crushproof
Question:
Hi, I'm looking for a new Hayden hose. Their are two choices, crushproof and wire reinforced. My old hose is wire reinforced and has held up well over 16 years. What are the pros and cons for each? How durable is the new crushproof Hayden hoses compared to the wire reinforced?
Answer:
Hi, good news is the wire reinforced hoses are a lot lighter and easier to use since 16 years ago. Buying a new one will be completely satisfying. Plus it fits right into your electric brush wands with no adaptors - a big plus. The reason to get the crushproof hose and wands is they are softer on your home (will kink a bit more too), will not bend if stepped on, and you'll be ready for a much better beater brush when the Hayden dies such as Stealth.

Hoover Compatible?
Question:
I've got a Hoover central system that is circa 1988. Need a replacement hose. It's got the 120v pigtail that plug into the wall end of the hose. The wall end has the electrical low voltage contacts that turn on the vacuum motor with the switch on the attachment end of the hose.
Answer:
Hoover and Electrolux are the same proprietary hose and tool kit and we have replacements here http://builtinvacuum.com/help/electrolux/hoses.html

How Light?
Question:
Is this hose considerably lighter than the original hose that came with my Centralux System (purchased in 2000. Thank You
Answer:
First, this hose is not compatible with Centralux. You'd have to buy an entire new attachment kit, such as the Stealth Kit, to use this hose. It will fit into your wall vacuum ports. Regarding how light it is, if you can't step on your hose and crush it down then you have the bulky heavy hose and so this new hose would be much lighter.

How to Convert to Different End
Question:
In buying a new home the hose and all attachments were missing from our central vac system. Our Realtor got the seller to buy us a replacement hose. However it came as a direct connect and not a pigtail. I got a conversion kit but no directions. How do I convert it from a direct connect to a pigtail?
Answer:
The wall end of a the standard electric vacuum hose has a hose cuff that comes off with a little help from screwdriver and downward pressure as the end on a hard surface at a 90-degree angle. Use the screwdriver to pry the back end of the cuff off the tabs holding it in place. You will see two wires that need to be disconnected and then reconnected to the new item. Older ones had pin ends, new ones have a pin and a slate. Older ones can be upgraded by splicing a wire and crimping on the small included slat. A new cuff and plug are included in the kit to put everything back together really nicely.

Internal Loose Connection in Handle?
Question:
We have a 30ft Direct Connect hose. One of the two rings inside the handle/switch assembly is not making contact with the wires inside the hose as measured by a voltmeter with the rings at the other end. The second ring does have continuity and therefore makes contact with its corresponding ring. Although these parts can be exposed by unscrewing the switch and the assembly hose handle cover, the connection from ring to wire is another matter. Can this assembly be repaired by a representative? Otherwise, the hose works well if the hose is inserted into the socket 90 degrees from vertical
Answer:
In newer hoses you can apply pressure to the contact in order for it to regain its tension against the metal ring in the hose handle assembly.

Kenmore 116.4053280 Hose Needed?

Answer:

Kenmore Compatible?
Question:
I have a Kenmore Central Vacuum and my Electric Vacuum hose has a stress crack in the top of it (which is now repaired with duct tape). I would like to purchase a new electric hose but do not need the electric vacuum part. Will this model fit my Kenmore sweeper. It looks the same but I wasn't sure if these were standard or not

Kenmore Hose with Cord?
Question:
Hi I just bought a Kenmore built-in vacuum at Sears. The 30' hose came with a 8' pigtail cord. What is the use of this electrical cord ? I noticed on the Kenmore internet site that some hoses are not equipped with this pigtail cord. I don't get it...
Answer:
Hello, the cord plugs into a nearby electrical outlet to power the electrical vacuum head you use on your carpet. Some wall vacuum ports have the electrical connection on the face of the port in two little holes. Some hoses have no electrical at all because some homes don't need an electrial head for carpet.

Longer Hose Needed
Question:
Howard-Burlington Wi I'm looking for another hose, or longer for the silentmaster
Answer:
Hi, we have longer hoses. If you want to use an electric powered accessory on it then you can buy a Quick Click Hose. If not electric then we have long Low Voltage (has on/switch on it) and Basic Hoses. You can start looking here: www.builtinvacuum.com/hoses.html.

LR44129 Hose Replacement
Question:
We have a Lindhaus Central Vac. I'm trying to find the right replacement for our hose that just recently stopped working. The info on the hose itself says: LR44129 120v.AC. 2.5A 60Hz I think it's 30 ft in length. Please help me pick out the right one!! thanks so much, Rebecca Marshfield, WI
Answer:
Hi Rebecca, the Electric Hose is what you need here http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/electrichoses.html. Choose the wall end type, either pinned direct connect or a pigtail cord. The photo at the bottom right of the page has a ruler in it with the key measurement if you want to insure compatibility. But our company is the original one who worked with Lindhaus, around 1995, to bring this brush to the market exclusively. It has been a tremendous performer. It sounds like yours doesn't say "Stealth" on the top of it and therefore didn't come through our company. Lindhaus kits not sold through or company have an inferior hose. I trust you find our to last a lot longer. Lastly, if that measurement isn't the same on your hose then we suggest you buy a new hose any how AND a new extension tube here to connect them all together http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=406ST

LR88617 Cord Replacement
Question:
Where can I but part LR88617? This the wire-plug that goes from the hose-wall connection end and plugs into the outlet. Thank you.
Answer:
Usually this cord replaces the cord on electric hoses. It has the standard two pin connection for the hose. On Kenmore it replaces the fuse link as well as the cord. http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=342COI

LR88617 Replacement
Question:
We have to wiggle the power hose where it connects to the vacuum head that meets the wall connection to make the motorized power head work on our Beam Central Vac. There must be a break or short in the wires in this part. Can we obtain a replacement for part # LR88617 ? Carol Lord Danvers, MA
Answer:
Hello Carol, please help us understand where the wiggles need to take place. At the handle? The wall? Or down at the brush? Most likely some part needs to be replaced because is it not a firm connection.

Measuring for Inlet Locations & Hose Length
Question:
When measuring for outlets, I allowed for a 30 foot hose. Is this the true length of the hose or is it a nominal measurement that will reach 30 feet only if stretched out? Will the wand and head give me another 5 feet or so? Thank you, Don...Escondido, CA
Answer:
Hi Don, measuring for a 30ft hose by going around beds, tables and sofas is the best way to be sure you have all the corners of your home covered. Yes, the hose has wands that add about 4 more feet, and yes, there are 35ft hoses available too (try to avoid going over 35ft for a hose, they get too long.) Only the Stretch Hose (good for quick clean ups only) truly stretches. The normal hose will stretch a little but not much at all. Hope that helps, let us know if you have more questions.

Need Longer Than 35'
Question:
Why is the 35ft length, for an electric hose with pigtail, as long as I can get? Is there an extension hose of some kind out there that can be purchased to lengthen the 30ft hose that I already have? Steve, Rochester Hill, MI
Answer:
If you need longer than 35ft (which can vary from 35 to 36.5 feet) then you are out of luck for a single longer hose. Also, there are no extensions made specifically for electric hoses. Sometimes though it works to use a direct connect hose and a couple #480AC cord adapters to lengthen a hose.

Need Switch
Question:
i am looking for a switch that turns unit on. It is the one that goes inside the handle hose. I live in New Baltimore, Michigan. I called the manufacturer...They didn"t have one. Thanks. My name is Jim.
Answer:
Jim, please give us a call for the best help.

No Pins on Wall End
Question:
Hi, my name is Corine and I have a Hayden Supervac 6000. I have a hose that does not have pins because I only have stone and hardwood floors. I do not know which hose to order as this one does not work anymore. Can you tell me which hose to order? Thank you. Gulf Breeze, Florida
Answer:
It sounds like your hose, the wall end, has no pins or pigtail cord. That means you need a Low Voltage Hose. Please visit here and ask us if you have questions. http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/lowvoltagehoses.html

Nutone 360 or 360D Automatic Inlet Compatible?
Question:
I have a Nutone model 353 with a direct plug in hose. I have looking for a replacement kit. Can you tell me which kit would fit my inlets. I believe that they are 1.5" The booklet calls it a. Thank you

Nutone Compatible
Question:
I have a Nutone CV-450W central vacuum system, purchased in 1995. The little "button" on the handle where the "pipes" slide together has broken, and it seems like I must get an entire new hose with the handle attached. It has a pigtail for power, but the hose evidently has power, as well. Can you tell me what i need to get to fix the thing back to normal? Many thanks, Noah
Answer:
Hello Noah, we have a button lock replacement. It is stiff warn you but it works. Otherwise you'd need to replace the older Nutone hose with one of these (button lock is also in this link) http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=300B,352GC,353GC

Looking for a connector, that connects the female end of the power brush housing wires to the switch box inside the handle. Is there anyplace to get a replacement part, or do we really have to buy a new hose? This is for a Nutone Conductaflex 208, part # LR44129. Thanks! Diane from Cincinnati

Nutone CT600 Hose?
Question:
Ken, Landisville, Pa. I have a NuTone CT600 Motor-Driven Power Brush, Will your power hose plug fit the 2-prong plug from this power brush?
Answer:
The CT600 prongs fit into all our hoses. The issue is the height they stick out over the top of the metal tubes. If over 1/2 inch then use this hose, if not - if the top of the pins are at 1/2 over or less then use the hoses here: http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=342,343,342G,343G,342C,343C,342GC,343GC

Nutone Electric Hose
Question:
I have a NuTone cv353 central vac. What electric hose will fit my system? I have a pigtail that connects the hose to the cord for the power nozzle and an electrical outlet above each of my vacuum hookups. Thank you.
Answer:
Our "corded" electric hose will fit your wall inlets perfectly (maybe a little snug but you can modify the hose end). The other end that goes into your metal extension tubes...do you plug in a two prong cord AFTER you plug the hose handle into the tubes? If so then this is the hose you need.

Nutone Electric Hose Compatibility
Question:
I have a Nutone CV 352 central vac with a CT 600 sweeper. The hose is 35-ft and has a 6 ft pig-tail from AC plug to two-prong hose. The wand attaches to top of tube going to sweeper. The female two-pronged inlet on the wand will accept the male plug-in with or without it being attached to the metal tube. What hose do I need? Thanks, Paul

Nutone Hose and Tool Kit Needed
Question:
I have a CV553W Nutone Cyclonic Power Unit in the house we bought but no hose or attachments. We borrowed a Beam hose that worked fine. It did not have an electric cord or the two prongs. You just pushed the hose into the wall outlet and twisted until the contacts touched. That ran the power head also. I have not seen that type. Sally in Shelbyville, TN
Answer:
Hi, congratulations on the home and central vac. Because the inlets in your walls are universal you have a few options that work with your entire system. You can have the hose with pigtail electric cord. It powers the best carpet groomers AND uses the contacts in the inlet to control the suction on and off. The compatible electrical kits are here: http://builtinvacuum.com/electricpowered.html and the air powered groomers, non-electric, and uses the contacts to control the suction is TurboCat Kits: http://builtinvacuum.com/airpowered.html

Nutone, Need Hose
Question:
We're buying a home that has a NuTone CV-750 central vacuum. The extra long hose has been damaged. What should I buy to replace it and how much will it cost? Joan
Answer:
A variety of hoses fit into that central vacuum - the wall plates except them. Do you already have an attachment for the carpet? The key is to get a hose that fits that. Usually the Electric Hose will be the perfect fit but you can send us more information or call. Thanks.

On Off Switch but No Electric?
Question:
Looking for a longer replacement hose. We have a heatilator unit installed in early 2004. Any suggestions. Our existing one has the on/off swith and connects with no outlet. It is not the friction fit for the rug beater - that attachment has a button. the other attachments all just slide on. thanks haley
Answer:
Hi Haley, you have a Low Voltage Hose with button lock. The switch is not voltage it is simply a contact closure. The longest we have with button lock is 35ft. If you want to replace the vacuum that requires the lock with something like a TurboCat brush then you can go up to 50ft. The hoses are here http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/lowvoltagehoses.html.

Question:
I have a Stealth power brush for my central VAC system. The handle no longer locks in place. The handle moves up and down with the push and pull motion when using it. It appears a plastic piece has broken. The protective cover on the handle and the metal block that slides into the block on the handle appear to be OK. I could not find the parts list for the handle on the website. Can I buy that piece. thansk for the help. JohnD
Answer:
It sounds like the button lock is weak and not holding the wand on. The metal tube on the handle with the button lock is not sold separately. The handle is here http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=352H,353GH. Sorry, but the parts are not sold separately to us.

Replace Pistol Grip Electric Hose?
Question:
We need a 30' replacement hose for our central vacuum. Please provide the link to the correct part number. If we need to buy new attachments, please provide that link also. Thanks.
Answer:
Hi, yes, the Electric Hoses replace this older style. The electric pins on the new style connect under the hose handle, not on top at pictured. The new hose will attach to your wands as the old one did. You have a 'corded' hose so you have the choice of a 30 or 35ft replacement here http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=352GC,353GC. If you want to replace your entire hose and nozzle you can choose any of these electric kits here http://builtinvacuum.com/electricpowered.html.

Replace Prongs
Question:
Jerry from Carlisle, PA. Q: I need a fused electrical connector, part number LR88617, that connects to the wall with a direct connect hose for a Beam Central Vacuum. This fused connecter is about 2 inches long and sealed. It blew its fuse when the vacuum brush became stalled from a tangled string. Checked everything with an electrical tester and isolated the problem to this part. Would like to purchase a couple of these if possible to have a spare.

Hi Jerry, the design for these and the connection has changed over the years but you CAN make this one work. The original replacements have been discontinued. http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=352CP.

Question:
I need to replce the SuperHose II that came with the Hayden central vac model # 7000. The house is approximately 15 years old. The handle is ivory color and ther are no pigtails. The new hoses seem to have a slightly different connection to the wand and outlet.Sunny in NJ.
Answer:
Hi, the actual replacement hose for all Hayden's is right here, yours being the top one http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=342,343,342G,343G,342C,343C,342GC,343GC.

Replacement Button Lock
Question:
Don from Baton Rouge LA; I'm in need of the wand adapter that fits on the end of the hose swivel handle, that looks like a stubby gun, the adapter is about 4 - 5" in length and allows you to attach the different wands for whatever cleaning you're doing at the time. The push down/pop up silver metal button that fits into the wand attachment's hole is sprung so the wand attachments tend to come off while vacuuming, etc. This is for an Air Vac central vacuum system, and it appears to be part of the model VM2200DS standard electric central vacuum tools and accessories or VM1200S kit that
Answer:
Hello Don, that looks like it was made by the competitor to our USA made hoses. We don't have the replacement handle/stub for it like we do for ours (color withstanding http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=352GH) but we do have a little replacement button lock. It is a bit stiff but will work. http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=300B

RH-130 Replacement On/Off Hose
Question:
I need to buy a replacement hose for a VacuMaid system installed in 1980. The original hose was an RH-130 30' beige remote control hose. Part number may have been RCH-430. The hose does not have a pigtail or a two prong plug - it just slides into the wall vacuum outlet. There is a an on/off switch on the hose handle. I can't figure out which replacement hose is right for my system. Jeannie in Charlotte, NC
Answer:
Hello Jeannie, if your vacuum port hole is completely round (some some had 8 sides) then the hose you need is the Low Voltage Hose. Here is a link to them with further instructions. http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/lowvoltagehoses.html

Sebo Vacuum Compatible?
Question:
Hi Jon here again. Just asked you a question about whether or not your hose will fit a Sebo. Boy it sure looks like it would. Anyway can I get my money back if it doesn't fit? Thanks hose dude.

Hi, the hose is not made for canister vacuums. It is for built-into-the-wall central vacuums. Sorry. We do have a lot of helpful accessories for the Sebo Vacuum Cleaners though! Just click on products above.

Signature Replacement Hose?
Question:
Does your 35 ft electric hose fit a Signature central vac system? My present model has a pigtail system for the power nozzle and a two hole socket located at the end of the hose and the beginning of the wand to attach power nozzle. Thank you, Paula
Answer:
Hello Paula, it very well may be, there where two sold and they are very similar. The only issue is the distance from the button lock and the two holes on the hose handle. This replacement hose has a 2" distance. See the photograph at the top of this page http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/electrichoses.html.

Silent Master Utility Valve
Question:
If I buy a direct connect hose, can I plug it into the utility inlet on the SilentMaster unit? I know it won't provide power, obviously, but I just want to know if I can use the same hose in the house and in the garage, or if I need to buy a second, basic hose to keep in the garage for the cars.
Answer:
The Electric Hose with Direct Connect will fit into the utility valve on any of our Silent Master units.

SilentMaster Electric Hose Option?
Question:
I have a SilentMaster S4. The hose needs to be replaced. The information on the current hose is Model A B 27 .. 3.5 Amp 120V. The plug is direct with two pins. What do you suggest? Thanks. Jeff
Answer:
Hello Jeff, you have two options and both have the option for a 30ft or 35ft hose. The first is the regular durable electric hose and the second is the modular Quick Click hose. The Quick Click has a 20ft base to use for quicker cleanups and then a really easy to add-on 10ft or 15ft extension for further distance cleaning. It even comes with two handles the hose clicks right into. That way you don't ever have to struggle to remove the hose handle from the extension wands again! The new hose handle stays put and the hose is what is unclicked and removed. The cost for this hose is about $90 more but worth every penny for a lot of households. This hose comes corded and with easy-to-use instructions for quickly converting it to the two-prong hose you need. Here are the options http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=352G,353G,362Q30,362Q35.

Smelly Hose
Question:
I have moved into a home updated in the past 6 months; adding a NuTone Central Vacum. The problem is the hose smells dusty all the time. It is stored in the laundry room closet. Why does it smell all the time and what can I do to remove the odor. It is simply a dusty smell; however the prior owner had dogs and perhaps some of it has something to do with vacuming dog hair. I checked and the bag; which is in the garage is nearly empty. It is the nylon on the outside of the hose that carries the dusty odor. I have sprayed the hose with Fabreeze and that does not last.
Answer:
If the inside of the hose smelled we recommend our TornadoPower Cloths (http://builtinvacuum.com/tornado-power/index.html) or spraying Lysol on full size paper towel sheets and sucking them through the hose. Buf if the hose sock stinks cut it off and replace it with a new one. A padded zippered one (http://builtinvacuum.com/hose-sock-cover/index.html).

Soft? Rubbery? Flexible?
Question:
Is this hose stiff, or is it "soft, rubbery and very flexible"? The one that came with my system is crush proof - and it is very rigid and is damaging my floors and walls. Brooks, AB Canada
Answer:
Hello. Our electric hose is not stiff, but very pliable. It is also crushproof, meaning that when it gets stepped on it bounces right back into its original shape. The hose is not rigid, so your floors and walls, along with baseboards and moldings, will not be damaged. However, if you are worried about protecting them, we also sell a 30ft and 35ft hose sock that will protect your floors, walls, baseboards, etc.

SuperHose Needed
Question:
Hi from Sam in Gettysburg, PA. I have a VACU-Queen Central VAC (VQ-110956)for which I need to replace the hose. The handle-end is inscribed with Superhose II. The wall end has a detachable pigtail. I do not see my handle end in your examples. Comparable measurements to your "ruler" picture are 13/16" and 2 1/8" and my handle does not have the collar shown in your photos. It has a 3-way switch and the power brush connects directly into the handle.
Answer:
Hi, there are a few companies that use this older electric hose. Some say SuperHose, some do not. The hose can only be replaced with the same style. But if you want to replace the entire attachment kit you can. The hose in the new kit will fit the wall inlets whereever this older hose was used. The replacement SuperHoses are available here: http://builtinvacuum.com/help/hayden/hoses.html in the Hayden section of the website. They are the largest distributor of the SuperHose and all its models.

SuperHose Replacement?
Question:
Does the hayden superhose II replacement hose come with the pigtail cord or does the cord need to be purchased serperately?
Answer:
The Hayden replacement hoses come in either direct connect OR corded, as you need. The hoses replace all the different versions of SuperHose. Please go here for those hoses and do not buy this "Electric Hose". http://builtinvacuum.com/help/hayden/hoses.html

Switch Assembly for Electric Hose
Question:
I have a Smart Vacuum hose, and a Smart Advantage power head, model SB7001, drawing 1.9 amps. The hose suction comes on when plugged into the low voltage vacuum outlets. The head is driven by 120V cord which is plugged in directly to an outlet. The handle assembly looks like the 353GC head. There is a rocker switch on top. The two power inlets in the handle have become elongated over time, causing intermittent contact with the two power probes from the powered head. Can I buy the female receptacle contained in the handle, or even the entire switch assembly? If so, where, and how?
Answer:
This switch assembly should be the one for your hose. Click and enlarge the photograph to be sure. If you have 3-pins at the top of your metal wands and not the standard 2-pin hose handle connection, then you have an outdated system.

Switch Right Position Has No Suction
Question:

Switch Right Side Bad?
Question:
Hi, I have a peculiar problem. We have a unit that has the rocker switch on the handle that when clicked to the left turns on the suction and when clicked to the right should turn on the suction and the power to the rotating brush head. The problem is that when I click to the right only the brush starts to rotate, no suction from the system. If I click to the left the suction is fine????? Any clues? We replaced the hose and handle set about a year ago. Thanks in advance. Jim
Answer:
Hello Jim, it sounds like the switch is bad. Not seeing what brand you have, here are the ones we offer (scroll down on the page) http://builtinvacuum.com/parts/hose-parts.html

Three Way Switch?
Question:
I HAVE AN ASTRO-VAC PIG TAIL CENTRAL SYSTEM. RECENTLY THE HOSE AND HANDLE SHORTED OUT. I WANT TO PURCHASE A NEW ELECTRIC HOSE WITH WAND AND HEAD. MY PRESENT HOSE HAS A 3 WAY SWITCH ON THE HANDLE. LEFT FOR SUCTION AND POWER HEAD. RIGHT FOR JUST SUCTION. AND CENTER TO TURN THE SYSTEM OFF AT THE HANDLE. I WOULD LIKE TO REPLACE IT WITH A HOSE THAT HAS THE SAME TYPE OF 3 WAY SWITCH. WHAT WOULD YOU RECCOMMEND? JOHN, TRENTON
Answer:
John, thank you for the excellent question. The Electric Hoses have a three way switch and the kits we sell have this hose (except the Hayden Kit). Please review the kits here as a way to decide which fits your needs the best http://builtinvacuum.com/comparison.html

Troubleshoot Electric Power
Question:
We have Silent Master Vacuum system about 5 years old with a direct connect hose 110 volt. We have Electric power at the wall connection, where the hose plugs into the wall but no electric power at the beater bar. The hose is in good condition (not crushed). The suction is good but no electricity to the beater bar. I am wondering where the problem could be and can it be fixed. Owen, Fruita, CO
Answer:
Hello Owen, we'd be glad to troubleshoot the hose with you to make sure it, not the power brush is the issue. If the hose is the issue it is either the switch or the 110 volt connection plug at the wall end of the hose.

Vacu-Queen with Cord on Both Ends
Question:
Hi.. I have a VACU-QUEEN SD100 and the hose is very poor condition.. what hose is a good bet for me to replace it? It has an AC male plug on one end and a female pigtail on the other. I woould appreciate your input for a new hose. Thanks Ben Stricker
Answer:
This type of hose is obsolete. The handle end on electric hoses have a two pin female receptacle, no cords any more. Hopefully you'll be able to buy a complete new kit. All of our kits fit right into your system. We suggest the Stealth or Ace Electric Kits with corded pigtail hose. See the comparisons here http://builtinvacuum.com/comparison.html.

Vacuflo "small wonder"
Question:
We have a 1990 Coachmen class A motor home with a Vacuflo "small wonder" central vacuum system. HOWEVER, we are missing the hose adapter (4976) and Hose assembly complete (4988-20), and all the attachments. Everything has been misplaced. Are you able to supply? Priscilla Arrowhead Highlands
Answer:
Hello Priscilla, if the suction starts before you insert the hose then you can use any of our hoses and accessories.

VacuFlo Compatible?
Question:
Is this the correct pigtail hose for Vacuflo FC 530 Filtered Cyclonic?
Answer:
Hi, no matter the model, the dealer could install any hose it he wanted to. Use the photo on the Electric Hose page that shows the ruler. Use it to determine if you have a match. The wall end of the hose will fit for sure but the other end is the question. http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/electrichoses.html

VacuFlo Inlets
Question:
My house had an old Vacuflo system when I bought it. We have purchased a new DrainVac with pigtail hose, electric beater bar and accessories. But the hose is too large to fit into the inlets. They are low voltage and come on when you open the door. Is there an adapter for the hose or the inlet that will make these compatible? Or is there a way to upgrade the inlets to standard size without ripping up my walls? Thanks, Nova, Kansas City
Answer:
Hello Nova, you should upgrade the inlets to standard ones. Read the information in the yellow box on this page for instructions and product to buy. http://builtinvacuum.com/help/vacuflo-dirt-devil.html

Vacumaid Compatible?
Question:
I have a Vacumaid p125 and do not like the hose that we currently have (aftermarket one). It is a crush resistant polypro hose and I would like to find a very high quality (maybe Polyurethane covered?) flexible hose to replace it. Any suggestions?
Answer:
Hello, all our hoses crush down but bounce back up. They are light weight and customers really enjoy using them.

VacuQueen Bulky Hose Upgrade Needed
Question:
I have a vacuqueen central vac installed in 1994. It is so heavy to pull around that I hate to use it. I use both the hard surface nozzle as well as the electric powered carpet head. My outlets have the 2-prong electrical connect. Will a new hose actually make it much lighter or am I out of luck and should just purchase a good upright?
Answer:
Hello, sounds like you have the heavy wire reinforced hose. We encourage you to try the soft and durable lightweight hose we offer in the Stealth Kit, and others, but not the Hayden Kit. We offer a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee so you can feel free to test drive it and decide for yourself. We have seen many, many happy homeowners who have made this switch and their testimonials are on this website.

Wall End of Hose Cracked
Question:
Where can I get just the end fitting for a Hoover central vac hose - the 'washer' / reducer that makes the hose plug tightly into the wall socket. On mine, the plastic / rubber ring (1.5" diameter) has cracked / broken off so now the hose fits loosely in all outlets, making poor connection and poor suction. We have the hose with the AC pigtail. I hate to have to buy an entire hose just to get a replacement 'coupling'.
Answer:
This is usually an expensive answer because the sleeve that goes from the end of the hose into the wall valve is not replaceable on Electric or Low Voltage Hoses. On Basic Hoses it is replaceable because no wires are involved - a new end simply screws on.

What hose do I need?
Question:
I received my new Manta mophead today and I am very pleased with it! As luck would have it though, I noticed the hose has a split in it near the handle end. I have a Filtex FX 675A model vacuum. The wall connector is pvc with the two metal connector dots inside the neck. What hose do you recommend I replace it with?
Answer:
Good Morning! We are happy to hear that you are pleased with your Manta Mophead purchase. Do you have an Electric Carpet Head? Or are all of your attachments Suction Driven? This will determine the type of hose you need. Please contact us at 1-800-997-2278 (M-TH 7-5 PST) for additional information and one of our helpful representative will be more than happy to assist you.

Which Hose for New Vacuum Power Brush?
Question:
I have a Broan CV30-D central vac system. I bought a new power brush and it won't work. I was told that I need to buy a new hose with a separate power cord. My current system did not need a separate cord to run the power brush. Did I buy the wrong power brush?
Answer:
They are probably saying a hose with a cord on the wall end not the brush end. Why won't the new brush work? It has a two pin cord and the hose handle has two holes for the pins, right? If not you will need a new hose.  One of these will work http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=352GC,353GC
