I have suction when using attachments and the left side of the toggle switch on the handle is depressed. When using the beater brush head and the right side of the toggle is depressed, I have no suction. Does the switch in the handle require replacement? Please advise. Thanks

This describes a faulty switch assembly, which is the electrical components within the hose handle. Please review all available Hose Switch Assembly options on our website to confirm compatibility.

This looks like it will work with my M&S hose . . . is that correct? Also, is there a replacement cord for the wand that runs from handle to the power head? David San Antonio, Texas

Answer:
Yes, the switch assembly will work with M&S. Take a look at these cords http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=49054,480CI. Really study the stape of the end of them, the plastic part. The pins are the same.

MD Vacuum Comptatible?

I have a gas pump hose with a telescoping wand that does not have a plug for a power head. The handle shows a 3 position switch can be used and there is a plastic plug where the receptacle would go. My switch looks just like the one shown with only two contacts on the hose and no receptacle. Will this assembly work? The vac is a MD brand and I assume the hose came as part of a package.

Answer:
Hello, yes this sounds like the exact one you need.

Metal Rings to Metal Finger Contacts Blackened

I have a VacuMaid system, gas pump type handle on the hose. The suction works but the power wand started getting intermittent and now doesn't work. Opening it up, it appears that 2 of the contacts have been arcing and look burned. But the metal rings on the end of the hose that touch those connectors also have some burn marks and grooves. Will replacing the switch assembly alone fix the problem or do I need a new end on the hose too or a whole new hose assembly? As someone else asked, I also have angled edges on the plug. If you think the end of my hose is OK (ie the switch assembly will fix the problem), could I solve the fit problem by buying both the switch assembly and your gas pump handle replacement? In your pictures that go with that handle, it also appears to have an angled plug.

Answer:
Hopefully you can clean the rings and metal fingers and then bend the fingers to make better connection to the rings. If the rings are at fault again then replace the entire hose.

Need Angled Plug

I need to replace the female plug on hose handle - it is burnt. The plug is angled at the corners. the plug on the switch replacement appears to be square. Do you sell the angle female plug and if so can I purchase it without buying the whole switch assembly. Paul Scottsdale

Answer:
Hello Paul, sorry we don't carry that. And usually you have to buy a complete assembly when you do find it elsewhere.

No Continuity

I have the stealth system and I'm not getting 120V from the male plug at the wall to the brass rings inside the gas pump handle. I checked for continuity and there is none with either hot leg or common. My 30V side works fine. I can activavte the vacuum in positions one and two; however, there is still no 120V to power the floor sweeper. Is this an easy fix or do I need to replace the entire hose?

Answer:
Hi, you can find the issue and fix/replace it. Slip the hose cuff off the wall end of the hose. Check for continuity in the cord or, as you have, the two pin plastic block. If that has no continuity then it is needing to be replaced. We have both here: http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=352CP,352CO

Replace Mine? Other Fixes within Hose.

Nutone Current carrying hose. The vac and power brush both lose power intermittently, simltaneously. I have had the hose handle apart many times and have determined that the switch harness complete with the mini circuit board, needs replacement. I have been unable to get this part locally. Answer:
Hi, here are the parts if the handle in the link matches yours. http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=352GS,352GH You can also see the handle at http://builtinvacuum.com/hoses/electrichoses.html. Stealth Compatible?

Hi...I need to replace the female plug on the hose handle as it is burnt out. I noticed that another consumer had the same problem and mine is angled at the corners as well. This is a stealth system but it doesn't say anything on it. Where would I find the female plug to fit my gun handle? Or will this work?

Two Pin Cord Replacement

I will purchase this if you can help me also replace the cord that runs to the brush head - with a male end at the top and I can wire it into my brush head inside. I had a bad connection and it burned up. A little scary, but fixable. Thanks. Andy. Heber City, UT

Answer:
Here is the generic cord to be used in nearly any vacuum that connects to the electric vacuum head and runs up the wands to connect to the hose handle. http://builtinvacuum.com/retail/shopretail.php?part_no=480UC

Unit Will Not Turn Off

The switch on the handle end of my central vac hose will not turn the central vac unit on/off. The unit turns on when I plug the hose into the central vac outlet, but I can't turn the unit off. The powerhead can be switched on/off. Do I need to replace the switch or the entire hose. I can use the hose, but it's not real convenient to unplug to turn vac unit on/off. There are no part numbers on the switch end, but on the end that plugs into the wall outlet says: Series XY MODEL BCF 27 BCE CCE FCE 27CE Dan from Chambersburg, PA

Answer:
That sounds like you have a bad relay on your vacuum power unit that is not turning the motors off. Follow our troubleshooting guide to locate the issue. http://builtinvacuum.com/education/troubleshoot.html

Vacuum Hose Switch Not Working

The switch on the handle end of my central vac hose will not turn the central vac unit on/off. The unit turns on when I plug the hose into the central vac outlet, but I can't turn the unit off. The powerhead can be switched on/off. Do I need to replace the switch or the entire hose. I can use the hose, but it's not real convenient to unplug to turn vac unit on/off. There are no part numbers on the switch end, but on the end that plugs into the wall outlet says: Series XY MODEL BCF 27 BCE CCE FCE 27CE Dan from Chambersburg, PA Answer: That sounds like you have a bad relay on your vacuum power unit that is not turning the motors off. I don't think it's a bad relay as another hose we own turns the vacuum unit on /off just fine. Should I replace the hose switch?

Answer:
This would indicate a low voltage short in your hose or switch. You can replace the switch with a new one fairly easily. Which one you need depends on the manufacturer of the hose itself.

Wessel-Werk Plastiflex Hose Switch

Hello. I need to replace the wiring harness in a Wessel-Werk/Plastiflex gas pump handle hose (kit # WWEBK340-35DC). Same issue as others -- powerhead turns on but no suction; standard mode with non-powered attachments works fine. The inside of the handle looks identical to part # 352GH, except that the switch in mine is rotated 180 degrees with the wires routed to the right, and the circuit board does not extend past the switch. Should part # 352GS work? Thanks.

Answer:
If the hose is Plastiflex then this switch assembly will always work. You can tell if the hose is from Plastiflex by locating a small P within a small circle on the wall end cuff of the hose. Most all hoses in Wessel Kits are Plastiflex Hoses.

When it is and is not Compatible

Angled Plug Appears similar posted question from two consumers has yielded two different answers: "need to replace the female plug on hose handle" Answer 1: Hello Paul, sorry we don't carry that. And usually you have to buy a complete assembly when you do find it elsewhere. And Answer 2: this part will fit right into your Stealth Hose handle. Good find. Let us know if you need anything else. Can you clarify? I have the Stealth Gas Pump Handle with the angled plug. Alan, Massachusetts

Answer:
Yes, we will clarify this. But first, this is the correct part for an MD or Stealth, Electric Hose, as you have. It will not fit into hoses for AirVac, Vacumaid, Hayden, some Beam, for the most part. There a couple manufacturers of hoses that we all use and the replacement parts are not compatible. This part only comes as a complete wiring harness, parts of it are not sold separately.

Work with My Hose?

I cannot tell the manufacturer of my electric hose. It has a model number on the end that connects to the wall outlet of "B C F 27 BCE". A manufacturer's mark on the hose looks like a backward R and U joined together, preceded by a small c and follwed by US. Can you tell me if this part will replace the part in this hose? Thanks.

Answer:
Yes, this is the Electric Hose we sell and so the parts for the hose can be used.

XY MODEL BCF 27 BCE CCE FCE 27CE Hose Parts

The switch on the handle end of my central vac hose will not turn on the suction when on the side for the power head. The power head works, but the central vac does not turn on. It does turn on the suction (central vac) when switched to the non-power attachment side. Where can I get a replacement switch, or a replacement for just this end of the hose? There are no part numbers on this end, but on the end that plugs into the wall it says: Series XY MODEL BCF 27 BCE CCE FCE 27CE Claudia from Leland, NC

Answer:
Hi, you need to replace the wiring harness in the hose handle. It is quite easy. See the parts after #352GH here http://builtinvacuum.com/parts/hose-parts.html.
