10-Year Old Brush, Need Replacement

Hi! We've got a 10 year old TP210 head unit. It recently broke (probably a belt I'm guessing). First question: Do you have parts for these? Second question - how much difference is there in performance btwn the one we have and your newer TurboCat models? Thanks! David

Answer:

You can view our Replacement TP210 Parts on our website. The TP210 is comparable to our TurboCat brushes.

Bad Luck with TurboCat? Buy Stealth

I had my system for fouryears and hve replaced the turbocat ntwice it seems to just loose power both have been cleaned but it does not seem to help. Is there a general rebuild kit for the unit containing seals and things like that the unit appears to be ok just loss of power under load trhank you

Answer:

If you are using the Turbocat that much, we think it is best to upgrade to an electric power head such as the Stealth. When upgrading from air driven to electric, your best option is the purchase a new kit such as our Corded Stealth Kit. It will fit directly into your inlets without any modification. There is an 8-foot electric cord attached to the wall end of the new hose that you will plug into a nearby electrical socket (use an extension cord if there is a further reach).

Belt Needed for TurboCat

How do I order a new drive belt?

Answer:

The belt for your TurboCat, TL2000, TP210, can be viewed on our website.

Best for Berber Carpet?

Which works the best with Berber carpet?

Answer:

Our recommendation would be an adjustable vacuum head. One that has many levels so you can get the perfect cleaning height. The brush with several cleaning levels is the Stealth Vacuum Brush. The Stealth is an electric brush, which will be more powerful than an air-driven brush.

Broan CV40 Attachment Kit Options

I have a BROAN VAC SYSTEM, I am looking to replace the beater bar Model CV40 what should I order? How about the hose?

Answer:

We highly recommend the Stealth Kit. It fits into your system (if a little tight in the inlets, the hose end is easily modified with an adapter) and into your 1-1/2 wall inlets. It includes the Stealth and Hose and many accessories for a discounted price. The electric Stealth head will clean your carpets better than the non-electric TurboCat.

Broken Turbine, Loud Noise

I have a Silent Master central vacuum with a TurboCat air driven carpet head. During vacuuming a washer was sucked into the system breaking off one of the plastic shaft holders on the turbine..now despite removing the piece of plastic and washer, the attachment is now extremely shrill in sound, although it continues to work. Is the noise possibly due to the turbine being off-center? I have checked the belt re-insertion according to the instructions repeatedly.

Answer:

That noise can be caused by a broken turbine. There are replacements, but only for the ones made in China, not Canada. We suggest upgrading to the Stealth Electric Kit as it is more sturdy with stronger cleaning power.

Carpet Cat VM179B Replacement?

I have a model AV550 (S/N: F891362) Air Vac that needs a new "power head." The vacuum head is air powered (no electricity) and is worn out. It appears the power head #VM179B might work for my application. I would like to know the following: 1. Would that head work on my unit? 2. The chrome vacuum "pipe" that fits into my current worn out head (called a Carpet Cat) has a diameter of 1 1/8 inch. Does the VM 179B also have that same 1 1/8 inch opening for my "chrome vacuum pipe?" If not, is there an "adapter pipe" that would allow me to use my current "chrome vacuum pipe" (that attaches to the flexable vacuum hose) with the VM179B? 3. If, indeed, that head would work, how much is it? Mike Calif.

Answer:

The TurboCat Vacuum Carpet Head is the exact VM179B replacement made by the same company. It fits into your hose and wands. Also, we want you to know that you can upgrade to an electric hose and nozzle without changing a thing on your system. Your system was made for both the TurboCat (air-driven brush) and any electric power nozzle. The benefits of the electric is it cleans better and is quieter. To upgrade, simply select from either our Stealth Electric Kit or Ace Electric Kit.

Diagram for Assembly?

I have an Ultra TP210 vacuum head that I disassembled to dislodge some debris. Can you direct me to a visual aid or diagram on the web that would show me how to reassemble all of the parts. Thanks. Jim

Dog Hair - Upgrade to Electric?

We have an ultra TP210 air powered vacuum head - is there anything better for picking up dog hair?? Also is it possible to get an electric vacuum head with our current air-powered system? Joanne NH

Answer:

You can upgrade to an electric power head which works much better on carpet especially picking up pet hair. We are certain you will be very happy with the improved performance for years to come. Please note that you will need to buy a new complete electric kit in order to ensure compatibility of parts such as our Complete 360 Electric Kit or our Ace Electric Kit.

Electrolux Compatible?

I have a 1999 Electrolux central vac system. Just recenlty the powerhead started to hort out. Would the turbocat power head work with my system? Thanks. Barb Bennett

Answer:

If your extension wand is round and measures 1-1/4 to 1-1/8 diameter, this will be compatible with your system.

Filtex System - Stealth or TurboCat?

I have a Filtex NTS300A that was installed when our house was built in 1989. I am in need of a beater head. Can I use the Stealth? Or is the Turbo Cat my only option? Thanks, Judy

Answer:

If your inlet valve (where you insert the hose in the wall) measures 1-1/2 ID, contains two small metal contact points inside the inlet valve hole, and will not start the flow of suction until a hose is inserted, any of our Air-Driven Brushes or Electric Brushes will be compatible. Air-driven brushes are recommended for homes with minimal carpeting as the electric brushes are more powerful for homes with mainly carpeting.

Fit OLD Hose and System?

Hi I have an air vac Model AV410B which is 20 years old. I'm looking for a carpet head attachment and I don't know what will fit my unit...any ideas? thanks. Betty stafford

How Does Electric Hoses Work when Upgrading?

I have a Nutone central vac with a low voltage on/off switch at the handle end of the hose. If I upgrade to an electric vacuum kit, how is the Nutone motor activated? How is the electric brush activated? Bob San Diego

Answer:

When you plug the electric hose into the vacuum inlet it will be just like plugging in the hose you have now. Then you will plug the pigtail electric cord into a nearby electrical outlet. The hose handle switch is 3-way. Left is air (suction) only, middle is off, and right is air (suction) and electricity (turns the rollerbar). There is nothing you need to change on your system.

Leaving Clumps of Dust

The TurboCat worked fine for a while (three months or so), but now leaves sporadic trails of dust clumps. It's very annoying. I've tried cleaning the bristles, etc., but nothing works.

Answer:

You will need to do a deeper clean of the TurboCat by removing the 11 screws that hold it together and take the head completely apart to clean out the turbine (the hardest screw to find is the one in the channel where the belt crosses itself. Once you remove the belt and lift the metal roller out you will see this screw).

Loud Screeching Noise

With my vacuflo 566Q, my turbocat attachment makes a high pitch screeching noise whenever I use it. It never use to do this, and when I use other attachment the system seems to work good. But it is seems to not work that good on carpet when I use the turbocat. It seems almost like it's picking up the carpet, or not adjusting to the height of the carpet. Do I need to purchase a new one, or is there something I can do to fix the problem?

Answer:

First, ensure the belt has not been damaged or stretched out. Next, take the roller brush out and clean the ends. Lastly, remove the screws and take the Turbocat apart and clean the air turbine.

More Powerful Power Head Needed

Mike in Blue Ash, OH. I have an M&S Air Vac 525 (I think) that was recently serviced. System checked out well but need new hose and a new power/beater head. Three cats and two dogs. What do you recommend, with prices please. Thanks

We recommend either the Stealth or the Ace Electric Brush.

Nutone 598 Nozzle Upgrade

I have a NuTone CV-353. The head reads model #598, serial #317044138 - household type motorized nozzle. The hose has cracked and torn off where the metal extension tube connects. I'd like to replace/upgrade along with the 20' hose. Please advise. Thank you, V.

Answer:

You can easily upgrade to a complete electric kit such as the Stealth Electric Kit as the hose will fit your system without any modifications. You will be amazed with the cleaning power with an upgrade to these tools.

Old Model Lost Effectiveness

I have an Air Vac (Music & Sound Model 210) central vacuum system in my home. It's at least 19 years old since it was here when we bought this house in 1993 (home built in 1984). We replaced the power brush about 8 years ago with an ultra tp 210. It now spins like a champ until the head meets the carpet then it runs but slows significantly. The belt seems lose to me but a local vacuum place said that probably is not the problem because it's a ribed belt and it is not broken. Should I replace the belt? Do you think I'd be happier with the Turbo Cat as I'd guess the performance technology is probably better. In reading you Q & A's it sounds like the belt needed is # 45519. Any thoughts? Mike from Irving, Texas

Answer:

In order for the TurboCat or TP210 to run well, the system has to be sealed. If the gasket on your machine letting in air or the turbine in the vacuum head has small chips in the fans then air is passing without it forcing a strong spin. We have also seen the left and right side bushing become ineffective. Sometimes it is the belt, but it usually presents as a particular sound. The belt must be tight to work right.

Replacing 1970's Brush

I have had my vacuum system since 1974, when our condos were built. I do not have a no. on the head. The top part is grey and the bottom inch is black. It has brushes and does not pick up very good anymore. Which one would fit my system, and howd much does it cost? Mrs. S.

If your inlet valve does not match these specifications, we may have a potential workaround for your situation.

Roller Bar Not Turning?

How does the AirVac RD-1990 head get power? No cords running to it and the brush doesn't turn. Steve. Charleston

Answer:

The AirVac RD-1990 runs on suction power only. That means the roller bar on the bottom of the brush turns when suction is activated through the hose. If the roller bar has stopped turning, it could mean there is some debris prohibiting the brush from turning or there could be an obstruction in the turbine. Please view the manufacturer's owner's manual for instructions on removing possible obstructions.

T21 Turbine Power Brush

I just bought a home with a Broan CV30 central system that works fine but there is a broken attachment that has "T21 Turbine Power Brush" on it. Will the TurboCat fit? Jim

Answer:

Yes, the Turbocat is a direct replacement for the T21.

T210, TurboCat will not Spin

Astro Ultra T210 power head - belt turns freely by hand when belt removed and beater bar turns. The spindle unit that belt attaches to (under plastic circle cover) seems locked. How to get at it? And, is it likely a part is broken or is it a foreign object problem? Name: Kent City: Lincoln, NE.

Answer:

To get to this part, remove the 11 screws around the perimeter and the screw under the belt where it crosses itself.

TP210, TurboCat Loud Noise

I have an Ultra TP 210 and vacuumed up some sort of hair pin. The vacuum works, but not as well as it should. It makes a terribly loud squealing sound (Only with main vacuum piece, not with attachments). Can't find the problem, any suggestions? Erin Mesa, AZ

Answer:

You will need to take apart the Ultra TP 210 power head by removing the 11 screws around the base and the one under the belt where it crosses itself. Take photos (if necessary) so you will know how it all goes back together or you can utilize the TP 210 Manuals on our website. The issue is probably due to debris in the turbine area, which you will be able to view once taken apart.

TurboCat, Ultra T210 Upgrade

I have a Vacuflo system which was installed in 1996. The Ultra T210 Turbine Powerhead Edge Cleaning is very loud and does not seem to pick up very well. We have a large amount of carpet and a hairy dog. What would be a powerful compatible replacement for this? Patty

Answer:
The hands-down best upgrade is the electric vacuum kit - such as the Complete Stealth Kit. The Ultra T210 or TP210 is the best non-electric vacuum available, but for homeowners with enough pet hair and carpet, it is not powerful enough. In contrast, the electric hose and vacuum head are so powerful that you will wonder how you ever got by without it. Pet hair, deep down dirt, and multiple times the air reaching your carpet makes a huge difference. Since you have Vacuflo you need to look at your hose end now. If it has two metal pins/stubs that plug into the wall vacuum inlet, you need to know that a new Stealth Kit with Cord will fit into your system but you will not be able to turn the suction on/off on the hose handle. You'd have to unplug it from the wall. You will be able to control the electric beater brush though. And if you want to control the suction you can if you spend about $20/inlet to add an adaptor and new faceplate (easy to do), and you can do that at a later time. See the Vacuflo Help page for more information about upgrading.

Ultra TP210 Wand Gets Stuck In Neck

I have a Nutone wand that seems to get stuck in the Ultra TP210 every time. How can I get it to come out easily?

Answer:
There is a release lever on the neck the will allow you to remove the wand. When pressing down on the lever, the metal spring is lowered that is locking it into place. If the wand is too tight, this lever will not work correctly and still grab the wand.

Vacuflo 19-91 RV Tools

We just bought a 1993 motorhome with a Vacuflo19-1 central vac. The carpet head and wand are missing. What would you reccommend to replace these parts. Nancy

VM485 Replacement Vacuum Kit

I have M&S central vacuum with sweeper model VM485, 30070906B, E149681 with belt protection. I do not know if it is air or electric. which is the best replacement sweeper? It is a low profile sweeper head. The system was installed in 1990.

We recommend the Ace Electric Kit or the top of the line Stealth Electric Kit for your home.

Wands Fall Out of TurboCat

I have a Ultra TP120 vacuum head for low carpet. I also have a button fit metal telescoping wand but it slips out at the vacuum end when we are vacuuming. the vacuum head appears to have a rectangular slot that the round button doesn't fit into. What is my best option, a friction fit metal wand? Carianne

Answer:
The TurboCat, or Ultra TP210, is made to receive friction fit wands. It sounds like you are missing the spring clip that fits into the top of the neck and into the square.

Want Better Vacuum

I have a silent master central vac with the turbo cat vacuum. I am very unhappy with the turbo cat as I don't feel it meets my needs. I would like to have a recommendation as to which vacuum works best for high traffic carpet and pet hair/dander.

Answer:

If your inlet valve (where you insert the hose in the wall) measures 1-1/2 ID, contains two small metal contact points inside the inlet valve hole, and will not start the flow of suction until a hose is inserted, any of our Electric Kits will be compatible. Air-driven brushes (TurboCat) are recommended for homes with minimal carpeting as the electric brushes are more powerful for homes with mainly carpeting.
